POSITION: Computer Teacher
Hours: 8:30am – 3:00pm
 10-Month Position Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

 Plus 2 parent meetings (evening)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To offer an enriched computer education to elementary students utilizing the
computer lab, Smartboard and various devices; assist teachers with technology
integration in lesson planning and provide support; maintain the appropriate use
of the computer classroom computers in accordance to the Acceptable Use
Policy; Encourage creative thinking with challenging technological projects.
 Develop schedules for lower and upper school departments for computer
instruction and class time.
 Use relevant technology to support instruction. Relevant knowledge of the
constant changes and improvements in technology including equipment,
software and current educational advances
 Instruct and monitor students in the use of progressive learning materials;
Oversee and guide students with a comprehensive technology education
in computer and web use; Utilize a variety of instructional strategies in
computer lessons and support classroom staff with technology while in the
lab.
 Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active
learning experiences; Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that
support the program; Research, implement and account new technologies
with Technology Coordinator; Assist with updating the Technology Plan.
 Collaborate with the classroom teachers in preparing interdisciplinary
lessons.
 Provide an enriched classroom environment that enables students to
productively learn.
 Suggest programs, web-based applications and materials for the
computer classroom and labs while maintaining inventory.
 Work with Technology Coordinator to develop a Technology Plan and
prepare long range goals that includes hardware and software
acquisitions.
 On-going maintenance and monitoring inventory of printers, computers
and all support equipment and materials; insure equipment is in working
order and inventory is sufficient
 Provide tutorials for students as needed.

RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Request and/or recommend software or apps based upon the educational
needs of the students
 Assess software prior to use and be familiarized with web subscriptions
 Track student progress in related areas and develop improvement
strategies
 Work with Media Assistant to suggest daily morning show content and
assist with Spectrum newsletter.
 Produce Staff and Student IDs
 Produce student yearbook utilizing student work in conjunction with
desktop publishing programs
 Tutors students in literacy based projects
 Report abuse or misuse of equipment and materials

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess the ability and flexibility to work with Technology Team, staff, and
students of varying abilities.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
 B.A or B.S in Education or Technology Education
 M.A. in Education of Hearing Impaired or Deaf and hard of Hearing
 NYS Certification in Deaf Education
 N-6 or Early childhood Education certification preferred
 Ability to communicate in Sign Language (as per personnel policy)
 Specialized course work in Technology Education preferred

for needs and abilities of diverse student learners
1.1 Follow daily schedules, submit monthly unit plans, maintain a daily lesson plan book
1.2 Leave emergency lessons and materials available at all times for substitute, if needed
1.3 Implement educational approaches with approval of Supervisor and within the framework
of school initiatives
1.4 Prepare for special programs, shows and events as needed
1.5 Attend all meetings related to the position (departments, school, team, parent-student, consultants,
etc.)
1.6 Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each student

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION:
2.1 Use appropriate language and communication methodology required for each student

3.1 Prepare suitable educational reports for New York State Education Department, clinics and other

Plan/Implement teaching and learning for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students using state content standards for high school CTE Culinary Arts.

Develop/Implement teaching and learning to support the individual needs and learning styles of DHH students

High School Science Teacher (KY) – Kentucky School for the Deaf

Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences aligned to Kentucky Academic Standards for Science.

Executive Interpreter (RI) – Rhode Island School for the Deaf

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Director, performs highly advanced ASL interpreter work. Effectively communicate and translate language into American Sign Language (ASL) or English. Duties may include, but are not limited to interpreting during meetings onsite and off-site, interviews, counseling, emergencies, staff professional development, School Board Meetings, conferences, out of town assignments and other activities as needed. Candidate must have flexibility with hours and the ability to work nights or weekends as needed. Must have reliable transportation and be able to respond and adapt to a fast paced, changing environment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under supervisor of the Director with latitude for the use of independent judgement.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Generally none

JOB GOAL: To support the academic achievement, social/behavioral skills and emotional well-being of Rhode Island School for the Deaf students.

PERFORMANCE QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate expertise in the areas of mental health, learning and behavior through direct service to students, coaching, consulting and outreach.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST:

1.Adheres to federal and state special education regulations.
2.Communicates high and clear expectations for students.
3.Administers and/or reviews a variety of assessments (e.g. cognitive, adaptive, behavioral rating scales, observations, FBAs, etc.), shares findings with key stakeholders and interprets test data in order to understand the academic, biological, and developmental issues that impact student performance.

The school librarian/library media specialist works with both students and teachers to facilitate access to information by the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of resources appropriate to the learning needs of the full age and ability range within the school community.

Participate in the implementation of planned learning experiences for all ages and abilities of students by providing group instruction.
