SCOPE OF DUTIES
The Source Interpreting Manager, under the supervision of the Director of Diversity and Special Programs, oversees all aspects of day to day operations of the Source Interpreting Department, The Manager is responsible for ensuring the long and short term success of the program, will adhere to strict guidelines for confidentiality and ethical conduct and will demonstrate good judgment, excellent interpersonal skills and effective planning skills. The Source Interpreting Manager will have the ability to work in a collaborative setting and to function as a liaison person as well as willingness to work flexible hours.

PRIMARY DUTIES
•Employee & Contractor Management:
•Maintain current position descriptions for all Source Interpreters
•Conduct annual evaluations of all Source Staff
•Approve interpreter independent contractor pay rates
•Oversight of Daily Operations:
•Weigh priority of interpreting requests
•Ensure department provides thorough and accurate interpreting services for all clients/customers.
•Request IT/phone/fax/tech/Sorenson support as needed
•Work in uSked:
• Troubleshoot issues
• Input pay period schedule for interpreters in uSked
• Learn and train office staff on new rollouts, changes to the system
• Backup documentation for resolving disputes or tracking (emails from uSked system are bcc: to [email protected]).
•Address escalated billing disputes or errors: credits/adjustments in uSked, communication to Business Office, with documentation kept in pay period’s folder
•Maintenance of Sign Language Interpreting Services Satisfaction Survey (option for customer, client or interpreter to complete post-assignment) to provide feedback
•Responsible for CASLI Testing
•Will prepare and deliver community presentations
•Monthly/Quarterly Reporting to Administration:
•Respond to requests from Business Office for missing billing information or job contact person(s)
•Review accounts receivable and accounts payable reports and send totals and interpreter invoices to Business Office; maintain paper copies
organized by pay period, designate invoices as “paid” in uSked
•Review monthly financials as sent by Business Office; attend monthly fiscal meetings
•Send files/adjustments for monthly reconciliations as requested by Business Office
•Creation of reports as requested by Business Office or Executive Director
•Assist in the development of program annual budget
•Vendor/Customer/Business Partner Contract Management:
•Keep current Terms & Conditions, Payment Terms (both print and online versions); modify as needed with Business Office approval, reformatting of documents and customer correspondence
•Coordinate drafting of requests for proposals (RFP) for organizations seeking interpreting contracts
•Sign off on purchase orders for billing (answering service, world language interpreting providers, translation requests, uSked, CART, ASLPI)
•Develop Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with business partners
•Participate in forums related to interpreting (i.e., CRID Legal Task Force)

•Interpreter Certification preferred: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID): CI, CT, CSC, CDI, National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or National Association of the Deaf (NAD): Level V. Requires ability to work with a variety of communication modes, including ASL, Signed English, and Visual/Gestural.

Elementary Teacher

-Teach a full range of elementary classes

Strategic Planning Manager

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, the Manager of Strategic Plan manages planning processes and activities in accordance with the Education of the Deaf Act, with special emphasis on educators, professionals and families of students who have traditionally been underserved (e.g., students who are members of diverse races and/or cultures, have disabilities, come from homes where a language other than English is spoken, live in rural areas, and/or are underachieving academically); manages collaborations with key members of KDES, MSSD, and National Service teams to develop detailed project management work plans aligned with the Clerc Center’s strategic priorities; manages collaborations with key members of the Clerc Center’s strategic plan project teams to establish and maintain monitoring systems; supports strategic plan project teams throughout the full project cycle; supports the implementation and reporting of the Clerc Center’s public input process, as required by the Education of the Deaf Act; and manages multiple responsibilities, projects and collaborations simultaneously.

• Greet and assist students get off the school bus and to the classroom. Assist the student from the classroom safely to the school bus.

Chief Bilingual Officer

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the President, the Chief Bilingual Officer works with the President, the Executive Team, and others to advise on the creation of a bilingual infrastructure, assemble a unit tasked with aligning university policies and practice with the principles provided in the Bilingual Mission Framework, and to lead bilingual-oriented programs, units and initiatives, including the implementation of the bilingual framework in line with Gallaudet’s priorities/strategic plan.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Organizational development of bilingual infrastructure on campus

Works with and supports all administrators, including academic leaders, and thier campus units in transforming their units to be in accordance with the bilingual mission of Gallaudet University.
Advises on budget needs and planning University-wide.

Partners with BL2 VL2, ML2, and academic departments for grant opportunities.

Collaborates and partners with Clerc Center on Clerc Center bilingual work/initiatives.
Presents updates on bilingual developments to the Executive Team and Board of Trustees.
Evaluates bilingual program development and reporting its progress to funding agencies, internal and external.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree.

Fluency in American Sign Language.

• Teach Deaf Education courses and other disciplines within one’s expertise
• Mentor and supervise assigned student teachers during student teaching and practicum.

• Have experience with online delivery and the development of instructional courses online is required as the program is online.

Required Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf Studies or Deaf Education and a minimum of four years professional experience in program management and assessment, data analysis, or related field or a Master’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in project leadership, teaching or training and Learning Management System (LMS) technology; preferred experience in ASL linguistics, applied linguistics, language planning, critical literacy studies and education related administration.
Required knowledge of the linguistic structure of ASL and English; must be fluent in ASL; native or native-like fluency in ASL; possession of American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) Master Certification and evidence of ASLPI proficiency score of 4 or above.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills; strong research and interpersonal skills; required knowledge of current accreditation requirements at the state and national levels; ability to work collaboratively with people with variety of roles and experiences including the ability to convey information in written format or visually for varied audiences.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Under limited supervision, directs and manages the statewide Visual Language Services (VLS) Program and implements daily administrative activities; implements agency policies and procedures; recommends new program initiatives or revisions to existing programs administered under the Visual Language Services Department including languages assessments, ASL programs, Deaf Mentor, school district services and consultation; assesses program and implements policies procedures or necessary changes.
Provides professional development and coordination for programs utilizing VLS throughout SCSDB Outreach Services including: leadership and guidance to the staff related to assessment and student success; consulting with faculty, staff groups, and committees; coordinates the development of strategies, procedures, project plans and communications related to language assessments birth to 21 years of age.

Fosters the success of all students and staff by collaborating with school agency staff to plan and implement professional development activities that promote the achievement of school and agency goals by using available resources and opportunities for professional growth

Effective Management:
Maintains inventory records and secures all assets.
