ASL Specialist
WRSD is seeking a skilled ASL Speciailst to provide comprehensive language program for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. To implement individual educational plans within the school’s curricular framework, to subscribe to and support the school’s mission.

Primary Duties
Assess the language needs of each child and plan an appropriate language program.
Assess educational materials and be an active participant in the selection of said materials in conjunction with administrators.
Provide language instruction as determined by individualized educational programs.
Participate in the writing of each child’s educational plan and attend team reviews.
Provide written quarterly progress reports as appropriate.
Evaluate each student’s American Sign Language development using formative assessments regularly.
Participate, as required, in Willie Ross School meetings and serve on committees when requested by an administrator.
Participate in workshops and other in-service training sessions as scheduled during specified school hours.
Work effectively with the Classroom Teachers, Speech-Language Pathologist, Educational Audiologist, and all related service providers.
Work with other teacher(s) or Instructional Assistant in a team situation.
Implement and use technology as appropriate to enhance curricula.
Maintain records and reports for each child.
Responsible for short and long-term planning of daily lessons and activities and for providing written plans and schedules for substitute teachers.

Requirements
Preferred Massachusetts Certification as a Foreign Language Teacher.
Superior Plus rating on the SLPI exam or comparable sign language proficiency exam within two years of hire.
Knowledge of communication modalities.
